The Fair Share Trust Programme (FST)
The Fair Share Trust Programme (FST) is a grant programme to be targeted at designated areas. In Blackpool these areas are those of inner Blackpool, with special emphasis on the Integrated Neighbourhood Initiative areas (INIs). There are four areas Claremont, Talbot and Brunswick, Central Drive and St Heliers. The target area has been decided by the Local Strategic Partnership and been agreed by the New Opportunities Fund.
The aims of the Fair Share Trust, nationally, are to
- Build capacity and sustainability in local communities, including support for community assets and planning and involvement in local regeneration
- Build social capital offering funding for local social developments, supporting job creation, skills development, social networks and community engagement in local organisations, activities and initiatives.
- Improve the local environment, enabling communities to make it safer, healthier, greener, cleaner, better designed and more welcoming and accessible to all groups.
Blackpool has £880,000 to spend by 2013.
The New Opportunities Fund (NOF) has asked the Community Foundation Network to distribute this money on a national level. However, as Blackpool does not have a community foundation CVS has been given the responsibility.
